Tonight I was prepping a bike for some evening rides that I will occur soon, weather depending. I started replacing batteries on the several small lights, and charged the Stella. Then I contemplated adding the 4AA Polypro as backup again, all the while thinking about what I can build out of spare parts. All of which started thinking about this. How many lights on your bike(s)?

I use a Trinewt on the bar and a Storm HID on the helmet. 1000+ lumens work great on my bike paths.

one 3xSSC P4 @1A ~ 730Lum on helmet, when I am on the urban road I use one blinking red on my tail too,...

Cheers,
Iztok

I run a 1W LED up front for when I'm on lighted streets, a 15W halogen for dark streets or MUPs and three blinkies on the back. Two of the blinkies are on steady and one is flashing.

I'm waiting on parts from Hong Kong to upgrade the halogen to a Q5. Then I'll move the 1W LED to another bike.

Have 2x2 SSC P4 @ 1A on handle bar. Use all four in rough/fast terrain, and only 2 on smoother sections. Have 2 SSC P4 @ 0.5A on helmet. Running all four on handle bar casts nice shadows in the rough sections even when I aim the helmet light in the same directions.
I ride as much as possible on small trails. For transportation sections I only use helmet lights.

My commuting bike currently has four lights, and my helmet has two:

DiNotte 600L headlight
Planet Bike Blaze headlight for backup

Nova BULL LED strobe as a taillight
Planet Bike SuperFlash for backup

My helmet has a Fenix L2D Q5 and a Planet Bike BRT5 rear blinkie. I sometimes clip amber blinkies to the sides of my front panniers for some extra side visibility. Planet Bike, Trek, and Nathan make illuminated reflective legbands which are also useful for side visibility.
