how much can i overdrive this light

i have the V8 Photonenpumpe.it calls for 4.5 volts i got 6.0.i want to try 7.5. is this going to kill it? will 6 kill it?

I would say the 6v would probably kill it.Try hooking it up to the 4.5volts first and see what the output is like. then try the 6, if the light is coming out as an "angry blue", as described by Craig of th eLED Museum, then you are overdriving it to the point that it will burn out quickly!

I think the streamlight keymate is 6 volt direct drive (4 button cells). I did not see any resistor when i opened mine up. I managed to cram 5 button cells in, and this made for an extremely easy and bright mod. Cant comment on longevity as i destroyed my keymate not long after.

the V8Turbo uses 6V and I do not think I saw a resistor in there. anyway, the Photons do use 6V too, so it should be ok.
if you burn the LED, do not worry. with your V8, just uns´crew the bezel and put in a new LED of your choice, and there you go again.
