Has any one built an extra bright bike light rig using 12-volt multi emitter bulbs?

I just don't want to spend over $100 for a pair. And I think that flash light beams are to narrow.

How much power would I get from 8 AA batteries? Or would I have to use a motorcycle battery?

300 lumen isn't that hard, take 2 decently powered P60 type drop-ins and you'll have 300+ lumen. Take 2 Seoul P7 or Cree MC-E and you have potential to go over 900 lumen. Some of the P60 type drop-in can take over 12v. The P7 is 3.7v, but there might be drivers. The MC-E can be wired for 3.7, 7.4 or 14.8v(Numbers are approximations because of Vf differences in each LED).

How much runtime do you want?
How wide a beam?
Wider hotspot? More spill? Both?

Also, picture has to be 800x600 or smaller, it's the rule.

Do you plan on making your own housing or modifying an exsisting light?

run time etc

sory about the picture size , I don't know what Im doing...

I need a wider hot spot and maybe less spill....and run time shoould be 3 hours or more.
