How to do Lux swap on the Scorpion LED

I'd like to swap out the default Lux1 star with a better one, perhaps even with a Seoul P4.

However, I'm stuck after unscrewing the bezel assy and reached for the LED engine. The Lux star is enclosed in an aluminum casing (with an extra plastic pressure plate on the Lux star) which I cannot open up.

Can someone help me? Thanks in advance!

This should do it...

Thanks Gannz, but I'm not too impressed since this mod is kind of destructive. I'm trying to opt for a more non-destructive method without breaking the black plastic pressure plate.

Do you know if the upper casing of the module (ie. aluminum ring with black plastic cross) is glued to the lower part? If so, is there a way to break the glue instead so that I can access the whole star? KIndly advise!

I don't think you can get it open without mangling it. If you do, please post your results.

I originally thought it looked destructive but the plastic that's removed is not helping to hold anything. The metal star is stronger than the plastic, especially in the middle. If anything, I'd say it's an improvement to remove the plastic b/c it will probably cool better w/o it in the way. And, there's still an unbroken plastic ring around the edge to act as a pressure plate.

It's a nice, easy upgrade and you don't need to worry about overheating anything. I'd really recommend this route instead of trying to open the LED module.

Well I was wondering if I can use a blowgun (or hairdryer) to heat up the module, to see if I can loosen any glue and thus free the upper casing. So I might sound a bit naive but I'd like to give it a try.

Might be glued. Probably pressed. Definitely not threaded. Have at it. I'm rootin' for ya'. I'd love to see it pull apart w/ a little heat.

I'd be interested to see how it comes apart also. I tried a bit, but couldn't get it open. I decided to cut the black plastic cross. it doesn't serve much purpose. Good luck and take pics!
