Great work, and superb result. So the color is on the inside surface of the filter glass, and the sand-blasting just blows all the color away, leaving it white?

Yes. Color may be out of the coarse grained sandpaper. But sandblasting is better.

Vesa,
Thank you much for the great pics on how to do this. Do you sandblast just enough to remove the color from the filter? I've never had anything sandblasted so is there different grits(?) of sand to be concerned with?
Thanks.
Bob

Excellent tutorial Vesa! You're posts are often the most helpful in the HID section.

Just to be sure I fully understand, is the color on the inside or the outside of the filter?

Is not very relevant what type of sand used. Can also be a glass balls.
After-the surface is only a rougher or smoother.

Suffice it to just be out of the color of the surface.
The color is just on the inside.
