Ok folks, beat me up on this one, but how well do you think these would do in the new ArcLS - http://www.batterysupply.com/mh-4aa170.htm#Convincing%20numbers

My own battery configuration would be about the same as yours.
The only thing is..-the light probably wouldn't be quite as bright as with the alkalines...
Fyi-I use a lot of those super NimHs and I really like 'em!

:-NimH batteries do NOT self-discharge anywhere near as much as many people would have you believe, (I've used 'em almost 2 years now, & just wish my Nicads would finally wear out, so I could get get rid of them).

It's nice that they are improving performance, but the pricing is ridiculous.

You can buy 1450 mah AA's for a hair over $2 apiece. These 1700's are $4 for only a 250 mah increase.

Me, I'd buy 2 sets of 1450's.

My $0.02.

Doug, I know, I know.

It's just like computer stuff. All the newest stuff is only marginally better than what it replaces, but costs double.

Kind of a pet peeve of mine I guess.

I'm too much a tightwad to buy the "newest thing".

I like math too much. 1450's are about $1.40 per Ah. The 1700's are $2.35 per Ah.
168% price increase for 117% performance increase. See what I mean?

OK, I'm done now. (stepping off of soapbox)

Mr. Gadget,
Your math on that sounds OK to me, at least.

For your consideration: we can buy 5-600mAh NcD batts. all day long for 20-25 cents ea. -How's the amp/hr. cost on that?

-I just hate having batteries run out at the wrong time (which is just about anytime):0
CD players, portable recorders,
and a whole buncha other stuff.
-This is really a "hangover" attitude from the bad old days when NcDs had about 500mAh

Hehe. I see what you mean Doug.

For the situations where spare batteries may not be a good option (like maybe flashlights?

), I definitely agree.

I wouldn't use 500 mAh batteries in my toothbrush!
