HP recalls 54,000 'fire hazard' batteries used in HP, Compaq notebooks
HEWLETT-PACKARD is recalling another 54,000 lithium-ion batteries used in Hewlett-Packard and Compaq notebook computers due to a fire hazard, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said. The batteries, which are made in China, can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard.
Hewlett-Packard had recalled 70,000 units in May 2009 but since then has received additional reports of batteries overheating.
