Just something I'm curious about. Would an HPR50 last any amount of time overdriving it on 5 1.5V cells? Or should I just get an HPR51?

I have tried 3 of them on 3 used 123 batteries. They both lasted less than 5 min. The first one was encouraging & lasted the longest. The 2nd one popped immediately. The third one lasted about a min. Made an intense white beam with notch shaped artifacts. Can't tell you how they work on 5 1.5, but they don't work well on 3 123s in my experience.

ABT,

The HPR50 should survive on 5 cells. I have found the HPR51 is required for 3x123 setups. It does indeed cast a funky beam because of the squarish capsule. Lots of ringy artifacts. Just to be sure, you might want to have an HPR51 on hand in case I am wrong /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
