Hummer HX concept HUMLite

Why the heck is there a 233 lumen xenon when there are 8 3W led around it? And 5 D cells? Looks like an oversized over styled piece of crap just like hummer.

It's great that even in the design process, they are already considering equipping a car with a functional flashlight.

Heh jzmtl, that's okay. I prefer having a better light than what most people have access to. :D Makes me feel better about all the $$$ I've spent..!

Why don't they make a diesel version of the Hummer? E85? Okay, but that's about 30% less miles per gallon than regular gas alone. In any event it's a concept which means you'll be lucky to see half of what is being presented.

Hurricane is an engineering show case, but they actually want to make this. Thou I bet production version will be watered down a lot.

That light to us is exactly what that Hummer concept is to the real offroad community - a piece of bling bling junk.

I wonder what the Hummer buyers will use the light for when they cruise their piece of crap down Sunset blvd in LA?

They did. I own one of the original Diesel Hummers.

That's a very, very, nice truck; the only one worth the name Hummer, truely capable of doing what the origional HMMWV is designed for - a multipurpose, go any-where, high carrying capacity tactical vehicle.

Though it is a diesel, the mileage is no different from a big block gas V8. To make the baby Hummers economical to run, they'd have to design a light V6 diesel and give up some performance.

Well Chyrsler did build the JK, and Toyota the FJ. So I guess GM needs something just as ugly to compete with those since the H2 and H3 aren't that ugly yet.

just as ugly as the JK? the JK looks fine imho (not that it matters, considering its an off-roading vehicle) and is the most capable stock vehicle in production (rubicon trim). Used to be the H1, but hummer stopped production :(

Where I live the H1 is going nowhere, it's way too big to fit. Unless you bring chainsaw alone, hehe.

that is it's major hindrance: size and weight. Thats why i like the new jk 2 door. Its so small and maneuverable. That and the fact that it is well... a jeep. Ground clearance, approach/breakover/departure angles, fording ability, etc.

233 lumens? It says 233.5 lumens. Don't forget the extra half-lumen, lol.

This thread has gone off-topic, with posts concentrating on the vehicle rather than the light.

If the OP (indycrucible) would like me to move the thread to the Cafe, to continue discussion of the Hummer itself, please let me know and I will move it. If it is to stay here in the 'General Flashlight' section, discussion will have to revert to the light.

It's going off topic because a) Anything from the "Hummer" line is superficial junk. and b) Beastmaster's REAL HMMVV is awesome!

Oh, you have to be kidding me. 24W of LEDs off D cells? Looks like a plastic case too, so not much in the way of heat exchange going on there. So I'm guessing those are marketing watts. I'll buy the 233.5 lumens, for a little while anyway.

A junk light. Dump it and buy a Surefire. If you can afford a Hummer, you can afford a real flashlight.

Maybe thoser are really 5mm leds, makes more sense, and the drawing looks like 5mm too.

I love my Rubi and think it's pretty sharp looking too.

All the JK's are great performers in stock trim, even the X would surprise people with how well it can wheel.

Hanging out in OBX:
