Greetings all!

Just before I retire my MiniMagLED I realized I own some interesting 2xAA Flashlights. These are the Huntlight FT-02 LuxIII T-Bin flashlight and the Ultrafire W-606 Cree one.

So comparison beamshots ARE a must, especially for the crowd that wants the AA availability in an efficient 2-cell package.

So here are they

Shots at ISO100, Daylight WB Setting, f/8 and 1sec

That is a disappointment for the MagLite name. Beam pattern is ringier than it seems. Focus was adjusted a bit narrow to almost eliminate one ring but not move the head that far forward as to have the observed light leak behind the reflector (See old MiniMagLED reviews on this0

Same at -2 stops

Well indeed it is so. And it holds the same in the -1 stop shots taken…hmmm

And here is a combo image

Well despite that all the flashlights look the same at close range the Ultrafire is a winner. Stronger hotspot and greater spill.

But I would like to see another match. SSC modded Huntlight vs. Q5 Cree modded Ultrafire. (I intend to do both…sometime.)

That's all for now, enjoy, Kostas
