after reading the R.O.P threads im thinking about doing that.

so im gonna get the pelican bulb and borofloat lens from www.lighthound.com

and the "Camless M2 Medium Orange Peel (MOP) Reflector" from sandwich shoppe

but im confused on the battery part. can i get the "2D to 8AA Battery Holder" also on sandwich shoppe just cuz im power hungry, or stick with the 6AA? Is it a good holder regardless? ive heard mixed reviews about holders not being reliable and stuff, since i want it to last im willing to pay the $$ for a good one

and any specific battery recommendation?

6D will be pushing 9v, to much for a Pelican big D bulb.

what are you talking about? 0_o
in conventional 2D ROPs the big D lamps [both high and low] are being driven at 7.2V nominal peaking at 9V....and thats with 6 AA cells, the normal setup.

A 6D will make a lovely ROP...long running too
forget battery holders, just buy 6D NIMHs

ROP lamps require 6 cells to operate, battery holders are meant for shorter lights :D

Groups-of-four battery holders (like a 2D/8AA) won't fit in a stock Mag unless it's bored out anyway. If you're comfortable with the size of the 6D, just go ahead and use six rechargeable D cells.

We run stuff way bigger than that... in hosts much smaller than a 6D.

For a basic 6D mod, 6 NiMH cells is pretty nice.
I doubt you could easily bore out a 6D though and no one makes a quad holder for a 6D running 24 AAs yet as far as I know.

There is a 6D>18AA available though.
