First off, I have been cruising this forum for a while now and I am glad to see that my addiction is not limited to just me. My wife and I both lost our jobs at the same company due to a shut down so my first purchase has been a stressful one. Luckily there were a number of items at work that were given to me during the closing of the plant. I was able to sell a couple of digital calipers and use the money for my very first light purchase. I ended up purchasing the Dereelight C2H EDC. I was totally surprised at the size of the light and how much lumens it generated. Then, my Dad (who has Parkinson's disease) keeps thinking that my birthday is in November, when it is actually in January, gives me money to buy another "torch". I ended up buying another EDC; the Nitecore D10. I really love both lights and since I got the Q3 in the Dereelight, I have 2 totally different tints between the 2 lights (which I love) I just cant keep that D10 out of my hand....I love the feel of the light and the piston switch.. (my wife thinks I am totally crazy) Now I have to find something else to sell on Ebay so I can buy a true "thrower" for tracking deer.
Thanks to everyone for all their knowledge and for an addiction I dont think will ever be fulfilled...

This is serious. Sell those two as you want a real thrower and just keep it. I wouldnt buy any other flashlight if I were you.

Try an get a job working Security... They always seem to be in demand, and you already have some good flashlights to assist in the job.

Security guard job = checking perimeter at night = high flashlight demand = :broke:

So let me get this straight. You and your wife both lost your jobs at the same time so spending money on non essential items is stressful.

Word to the wise, worry about food and keeping a roof over your head. After you find work, start buying flashlights again.

Let me explain my situation a little further. When we both lost our jobs the company shipped everything overseas thus qualifying us under the NAFTA clause. We were able to get 2.5 years of free college which includes books, tuition, supplies, gas back and forth and half of my salary wages. I had been a Process Engineer for 20 years but with no degree; so now I am able to pursue that. So after I go through school and get on track with a job again, it is then that my true addiction will come out and I will hopefully buy to my hearts content to satisfy this weird hunger that I have. :)

But rather than gently remind your Dad of your true birthdate you just took the money??????????

I think he really knows when my birthday is....he is just looking for an excuse to buy me something.

He seems to remember my "real" birthday just fine too

You guys are tough.

If you really want to get abused start a thread asking why SF are so expensive and not worth the $. :green:

but:welcome: and good luck in school . Just goes to show somettimes bad things precede unforeseen future prosperity .

Have fun with those new lights.

I think this Forum is only tough on us new guys to make us stronger!!:D

I know what you mean about getting bitten by the flashlight bug!

Regardless of how good your severance package is, with no job for you OR your spouse and the economy in the crapper, you might want to be a little more frugal. Sure, if all goes well you'll be re-entering the job market with a shiny new college degree....but with this economy, there will be less people hiring, no new job creation and you'll be competing for jobs with guys who have more experience who are desperate for work and will take a job at a lot less then they were used to making. Circle the financial wagons, hide the credit cards and hunker down for a while. There'll still be great lights available whenever you have steady and disposable income again.
