i just got bit by a snake

well i was in back yard playing with new lights.then i moved some logs and wood .and see a snake before. i can move hand it bit me.i hope it was not a posiness snake.

Even if it was not venomous, it can still cause serious infection or disease. Go to a hospital emergency room or doctor so they can give you whatever you need to prevent this.

if you have 2 fang marks in addition to rows of small pricks it is venimous.
if so get medical help NOW!
it could have been a dry bite but take no chances.
if no fang holes just treat it with peroxide and forget it.
i would take a rake or similar and pull the woodpile apart(carefully) and get a good look at the snake so you can make a positive id.maybe take a picture.
then leave it alone and watch where you put your hands in the future.did you get a good look at it?
wait till you get bit by a snake with a head bigger than most folks hands!thats how i got my nick.12 foot boa with a bad attitude.

im fine it was hours ago/ i just cleaned it with bleach and took a nap.We have lots a criters in back a house. the things that scare me is under house i was doing some plumbing and saw a feww black widows. but never saw em in house btw snakebite thats a sweet boa in ya sig.i have a ball python.i want a albino python ball python that is

I kept snakes in my bedroom as a kid. As I recall, in the states, the only poisionous snakes are the various rattlers, the watermocason (sp), and the coral snakes. I do recall there were some other less nasty fellows that are rear fanged. I caught a patchnosed snake once that bit me but didn't break the skin. I believe it was a rear fanged snake that could have caused some discomfort had its saliva made its way into my blood stream?? Aside from these and the Gila Monster, are there some other "bad boys" out there?

Don, don't forget the copperhead. Don't know where raggie lives, but the copperhead is the most prevalent poisonous snake 'round here ( central NC ).

Raggie, been bitten by a couple of blacksnakes / ratsnakes, as long as it's not a venomous snake, just clean the wound good, snakes have a lot of nasty bacteria in their mouths.

Glad it worked out okay.

Coral snake country, AFAIK! If it had been you would be out by now if it wasn't a dry bite. Have heard it actually takes some effort to be bitten by coral snake, anyone else have any input on this?

I think he would have recognized a coral snake. My army sergeant told us a coral snake has no fangs and has to chew a bit to do it's thing. We still had to shake out our boots before putting them on in the morning.

The coral snake is sometimes confused with the scarlet king snake, "red touching yellow means danger to a fellow".

the hognose is a rear fanged snake i see kept as pets.
few know it is (mildly)venemous.
since raggie is still posting we can figure is was a harmless one that bit him.
