I have finally attached a list of my lights to my signature. I have been bashing my brains out trying to figure out which one to get next, but I have it narrowed way down.

- Streamlight 3C LED
- Streamlight 4AA LED

At first, I was leaning towards the 4AA on account of its size and price. But then, I lost my conviction after reading up a bit on the 3C. Much wider, brighter beam, longer lasting... If you could only have one of the two, (for a while, at least) which would it be? So as you can tell, I'm getting nowhere, just going back and forth. It is frustrating, no? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Thanks for helping me through this difficult time, hehehe.

If I were you, I'd forget about size, weight, batteries, burn time and beam size for a minute, take a deep breath and choose one.

It's obvious you have carefully thought about your remaining 2 choices. It's not like you threw your first choice and your 10th choice together...You chose a pair you probably wouldn't regret getting one or the other. Besides, it's not like this is going to be your last light! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And if finances allow, why not just get them both. This way, you can really decide if 3 more LED's, 2 more inches, 10 more dollars, and twice the weight is better. Plus you'll be saving on shipping! You could always put one up for sale if you don't like one of them.

Although I don't have either of the 2 lights you mentioned, I did have a similar situation a week ago. I couldn't decide between the C2HA and E2eHA. I agonized for days on end while thinking of pros and cons. So I alleviated my agony and just got both. Although in hindsight, I should've got the C2 first and then the E2e, (I think the C2 kicks the E2e's tail!!) I'm glad that I got both.

What will you be using the light for?

I would be using it for a bit of everything. Obviously not too much long distance spotlighting, since they are both floods... I guess to me 'everything' means walking and snooping around places at night. I already have a couple of lights that are good for working on things in the dark, such as the Aurora headlamp and Clipmate.

You know, this reminds me of some advice someone told me. If you can't decide which of two things to get, pick your first instinct and tell yourself "That's it." If you feel regret, get the other. If not, you chose right in the first place. I will wait another day or so for advice, and then I think I might just try that, hehehe.

I have them both, and the Aurora too. You have excellent taste in flashlights. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No answers though. Well the 4 AA is handier and fits in a pocket easier. It would be the one I would take when "walking around".

Having the 3 C on the shelf assures you that you can have a considerable amount of light for a long time, if the need ever arises. Of course, you could achieve the same thing by having extra batteries for the 4 AA.

Yep, you should buy both. Actually as I usually have an Arc AAA in one pocket and sometimes an Arc LS in the other, I don't have much experience using the SL 4 AA, but it sure looks like it would be a winner.

It might come down to battery costs. I used to assume you'd get more bang for the buck with C cells, but I think I was wrong. It seems everyone uses AA cells these days and Compusa (among others) sells AAs cheap. Hardly anyone uses C cells and they are the same price as D cells.

And then there are rechargeables. NiMH AAs are much easier to find and charge than C. Actually I haven't tried NiMH in my 3C yet.

I still like the SL 3C though when I know I'll be working all night long in the middle of nowhere.

I have both, and much prefer the 4AA in actual use. The 3C is a little brighter, but a lot larger. It is much more convenient to pick up the 4AA.

I have the 3C and love it.

I have a review on it here. www.geocities.com/trottoreview

It just depends on how much you want to put a light in your pocket. The 3C does have theat clip making it easy to carry, but still bulky. But it is a great flood of light. I dont know anything about the 4AA though.

well....that's a tough one. I have about a dozen of the AA and half a dozen 3C....every time I turn around, someone sees me using them and wants one.
After using them both, for me it really boils down to size. They're BOTH hellishly bright.
If I want to carry it in my pocket, I take the AA
But if I want LIGHHHHTTTT....I take the 3C.

Enjoy your lights! If you have any trouble getting a good price, let me know.
