I seem to have the laser guys stumped now?

Here's a good one for you laser misters. Maybe you could let me know if you would think a 645nm 60 or 30 milliamp 2.4 to 3 volt laser module could possibly have a run time of over 48 hours on two cheap AAA batteries?
The reason I am here and asking this that I have tested laser modules I have made battery bodies for and have been able to get 54 and 56 hours on two cheap AAA alkaline batteries before.
I am now trying to work with overseas manufacturer that are telling me I can't do this or they can't figure out how to do it themselves or for me.
Taking everything in and looking back at what I had done I have realized I could have bumped the batteries power into the modules wires by twisting a larger copper conductor in contact with the battery with the leads from the laser module. What I had done was something like a lineman's twist /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif or what was done with residential wiring years ago when they still soldered the wires together for lack of better explaination. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

I spent a long time looking for the right lasers for my application and was very pleased with the outcome. The only problem is I have to get this set up through an overseas manufacturer and it's coming a bunch of /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif
Any input is really welcome!

i bet the module they are using is meant to be driven with button cells to be cheap.current limited by internal resistance of the cells.

You may just be right Snakebite. The modules I have been using are set up to limit the current and I believe this is why they make the AAAs last so long. I can stack Ds behind these things and they run forever.
I just one day mailed a module the same as I have been using and it should be there by noon the 12th.
I just took a quick look at the new modules my supplier has now and they are really different in the way of circuitry.
With any luck this manufacturer can mimic the circuit board and diode I sent and the birds will sing and the sun will shine and all will be well with my sanity.
Thanks for chiming in Snakebite,
Wylie
