I purchased the surefire E1e Executive Elite a couple years ago and the batteries died (or so I thought) I removed the dead battery and used another one of my other favored flashlight seems of decent quality and reminds me of a Surefire AZ2 CombatLight (knock off, of course). I never got around to replacing the battery to the Surefire until today, only thing is, when I put in a battery, it didn't work. I bought a new [Xenon] bulb for it, but it still didn't work. As far I can tell there aren't any electronics in this flashlight but then again, I'm not an expert. I've contacted Surefire (via email) and am awaiting their response until then...can anyone help?

I just removed what seems to be a green, flat hard plasic ring from the end cap (where the negative spring makes conact) and the Surefie E1e Executive Elite flashlight seems to work now, Is this common in all Surefire's? Is this a standard feature required to be removed from all Surefires?

The E1E is a simple light, body, lamp, batteries......clean all contacts, clean the threads on the body, head and tailcap.......get fresh batteries and a good lamp and all should work....no real reason not to.

Are you sure that the green plastic ring wasn't from the bottom of the dead cell? Do you still have the dead cell? If you look at the bottom of a CR123 there is a plastic spacer/ring encapsulated in the shrink wrap of the battery. I have never seen a green hard plastic ring in the tail cap of my many E series lights.

Yeah, whats with this green ring, I never seen one either......

If the light has a lockout tailcap, make sure to screw down the tailcap far enough so that it is no longer locked out.
