Pardon for being newbee as a flashlight lover. Just would like to know the ideal power (battery requirement for the following)

Considering the various battery types, battery combination & number of batteries, what would you suggest for the following:

3.0v -
6.0v -
7.2v -
9.0v -
12.0v -

Thanks, for the help.

3.0V CR123 or 3.0V RCR123
6.0V 2x CR123 or @x 3.0V RCR123 or 1x 17xxx or 1x 18xxx if possible
7.2V 2x 17xxx or 2x 18xxx
9.0V 2x 18xxx or 2x 17xxx or 3x CR123 or 3x 3.0V RCR123
12.0V 3x 18xxx or 3x 17xxx or 4x CR123 or 3x 3.0V RCR123

Just curious what these are for.

17xxx means 17mm diameter (18xxx = 18mm, etc), The next 2 figures are the length in mm and the last zero means it is a cylindrical cell. So 18650 is 18mm dia x 65mm long.

This type of designation is applied to Li-Ion rechargeable cells (3.7v). The 14500 size is physically the same dimensions as AA, but is not referred to as AA to try to stop people from thinking they are interchangeable with 1.5v alkalines!

The "123" size is the one to be careful with. It is 16mm dia x 34mm long, but is usually called RCR123, not 16340. NOT to be confused with CR123A Lithium primaries (non-rechargeable, 3v). The key there is the R for rechargeable in front of it.

available space is important.
and of course it depends on whether you want full regulation or not.
the current load may be important, too.
