I\'m confused...KL1 question

I have the newest style KL1 that I have listed in BST. I was asked if it had the 3 watt Lux III. I see another member has one for sale and he says it's marked 3 watt. My package says 1 watt. Is this just old packaging they put the newer KL1 in?

Re: I\'m confused...KL1 question

That is my understanding. They were shipped in the old packaging.

Re: I\'m confused...KL1 question

The new KL1's are for sure Luxeon III emitters. The packaging is old.

Re: I\'m confused...KL1 question

The KL1 uses a 1watt luxeon III.

It is not a 3 watt light.

Dano, someone better tell SureFire that....

Mine came in a thermal stapled blister pack and I have the glossy insert right here. It says:

KL1
3 Watt LED Head
Fits Executive Series
Flashlights

So does mine. 3 watts...

Re: I\'m confused...KL1 question

Just to add lithium to the fire.. mine says 1W /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Put it this way, it's a Luxeon III (the III having no meaning other than as a product model number), POWERED at 1W. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Realistically, the new KL1 is powered at a lot more than 1W, it's much closer to 2W, 550mA.

I may have a 5W RATED LED, but I may power it at 1W too if I was designing a flashlight and wished to do so for whatever reason.

Re: I\'m confused...KL1 question

I agree with the fire. I just am amazed at the smoke. SureFire marketing seems to have a big slice of the pizza at the board meetings.
