I've read that these cells can handle larger loads than regular RCR123's, currently i have 2 of them in my 6P with a KT2 and a MN15 lamp, seems to run it fine, as well as a Lumens Factory EO-9 lamp.

I was just curious how much current you can safely draw from them.

If memory serves me well I remember it being about 4.8amp draw safely.

I ran mine with a Malkoff P7 P60 in a 3P parts set-up.

At 2.8amp draw they worked perfect.:devil:
 
I recently ran a WA1111 on 2x IMR 16340 through a turbo head. The runtime is short but it's one heck of a beam! Definitely a step up from the MN15. The WA1111 draws somewhere in the vicinity of 3.5 amps.

How are you managing to fit a MN21 into a 6P? It only fits in a KT4 turbohead. Interesting idea to run it off 2x IMR16340 though. Runtime ~4-5 mins, lol.
 
I'm curious to hear about the MN21 on those cells performance, and whether they have enough oomf in them to make use of the higher power bulb. There does become a point of no-return where having the higher power lamp doesn't generate better results because the cells can't hold enough voltage to make it practical. The IMR-M3T/WA1111 may be about that tipping point for absolute highest possible/practical output from a pair of IMR16340s...

I don't see any problem giving the MN21 a try though :) It's a little over the maximum recommended discharge, but the way I see it, this chemistry, being relatively safe, leaves us room to play and experiment like that without much if any real danger. Worst case scenario, the cells gets worn out much faster than ideal.

I really can't wait to see.

That will be something interesting to see from a small package.
I'm planning to get one setup, but they are expensive and not easy to get because I'm in Sydney :(
 
Whenever I read Quickie or Freebie I start to get get all excited but then as I read the post I see that it is not what I was raised up to believe it is.:)
 
6 minutes before the body of the light was getting too hot, batteries were pretty warm. started out at 2800 lux in the new sphere, was down to 2000 after 5 minutes. starting voltage was about 4.2 and ending was 3.6


so runtime would be less than 10 minutes. Not something i'd really want to carry and be forced to use.

I'm going to run the same setup with the MN15 bulb and attempt to get a runtime graph. My luxmeter's software keeps crashing though.. lol
