I have the X0, and personally, I don't believe that it's too big for what you get. First of all, it's bright for a 1 watter...VERY bright! Second of all, it's built every bit as tough as the X5, which translates to "virtually indestructable"! The optics do an outstanding job of throwing every available lumen out the buisness end of this light. At a distance of about 6 feet, the hotspot of the X0 is about 50% bigger than the hotspot of my Arc4+, and EASILY twice as bright. There's not much sidespill light, but the large hotspot does a pretty good job of compensating for that. Also, considering the size of the hotspot, the X0 throws it's beam VERY well...after all, it uses a Fresnel type lens; the same type of lens used in theater spotlights. It comes down to personal preference. Is it a "bit clunky"? I'd have to say yes...but it's just slightly larger than my Pelican M6 LED (which is another winner in my book). Is it too big to EDC? Definitely...but then again, I don't think it was MEANT to be an EDC light. What it is is a very bright, virtually indestructable "utility light" from a very respectable company. You can't truly "try" this light at the store with all the ambient light, while it's still in the package. But if you take one home and give it a "real" try I think you'll be quite impressed with it. IMHO, it's worth every penny of the 59 bucks I paid for it. Mine has become my duty light at work as a Corrections Officer...it's "built like a tank" quality makes it perfect for me, and it's PLENTY bright for what I use it for. In fact, it's plenty bright for just about whatever I'd need a light for. Give the X0 a try...if you don't like it, take it back! But don't give it a "try" in the store. To fully appreciate this light, you'll have to give it a "real" try. Just my $.02...
