A few questions about the X5. I have a white led model and like it. I use my old 123's in it, works good.
My questions are;
1. Can I get a longer run time with a different color LED?? Will the green or blue last longer then the white?? I think the red LED is only 1 battery. I know someone here can tell me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
2. Is there any real benefit to the other colors besides cool factor?? I know some of the basic reasons(nightvision, hunting, etc) but I don't need them for any of those reasons. I was going to get a blue one because the price was good on EBAY. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
3. Those who have a green or blue what do you use them for?? if you don't mind my asking.

Sorry to ramble. Thanks for the info and help!!

Blades...IMHO, you'll find a hundred different people with a hundred different reasons and/or opinions to use or not use colored LEDs. The run time for blue or green LED X5's should be the same as the white LED model. The blue and green models will appear brighter as a result of your eye's higher sensitivity to these colors, and may have a little more of a "cool" factor. Blue is handy for followimg blood trails for hunters, because blood appears as jet-black under the light of a blue LED, and makes it easier to spot. Green just plain appears extremely bright, and seems to light things up at a greater distance. One thing to be aware of, there will be a LOT of beam artifacts in the blue or green Inova X5's...it's just the nature of the beast when dealing with 5mm LEDs. This is easily rectified with a piece of satin scotch tape, or some WriteRight.

PJD,
Thanks for the reply. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I use my white X5 as an edc carry light, and was thinking about a blue X5 to keep on my computer desk. So it would be used rarely. I didn't know if batteries that wouldn't work in the white X5 would light up a blue X5. They might not, but I still have my ARC to put them in. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
The price seems to be less on the blue X5, so I was thinking of picking one up, maybe getting one for a friend. Just an idea I was pondering, and needed some feedback. Thanks again.

I had a Blue LED X5T that I sold on B/S/T because I did not care for the color, however it [suprisingly] did not have any beam artifacts except at very close range.

I can not say the same thing for the A2 LEDS, where colored LED beam artifacts are a problem.

I thought I had a beam picture of my blue Inova X5, but I guess I don't.

Snap...download...resize...FTP up...

There ARE some artifacts in there, but they're not horrible and awful in my particular blue X5.

Craig - does your blue X5 have any scotch tape or anything else over the LED's? It looks pretty smooth compard to other blue LED X5 beams I've seen!

maybe I'll have to get me one of those.......

Thanks for the blue beamshot!! I saw the geen & white beamshot in the "reviews" section, but I can't get back to it now. I wanted to look at it again, but it seems to send you to some weird website. Oh well.
Once again thanks!!

There's no tape or any other covering over the LEDs. It's about as feral as it gets, except there's a Cetacea coiled tether & clip affixed to the tail end of the flashlight with a swivel attachment.
Go here and go about halfway down the page to see the blue X5 and the unique tether attachment.
