I just got my inova x5t today, and there is a bit of what appears to be metal/plastic epoxy or jbweld left on the side of the head. Maybe thats why everyone has problems taking it apart?

ufokillerz,

I have an early X5 with the front twist swich. It was pressed together and potted in epoxy. I took it apart in a lathe with a parting tool and cooked it with a torch to get the little circular printed circuit board out, which also mounted 5 surface-mount resistors. I do not recommend you try this /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif as it might not be rebuildable. I was able to machine a piece to replace the material I had cut away. (Mine now sports 5 UV diodes and is the best scorpion hunting light I have had so far.)

Thanks for the info, i don't think i would try it being that i don't have the machinery besides a do-it all dremel. Seems like its a lot of work.
