Nice find, I'm surprised these setups aren't more popular. I can't believe the guy actually drilled into the ceiling though; it's a lot easier if you just use large, flat box "panels" that affix to the ceiling, so the install is reversible and can be moved if needed.

Small holes are easy to fill, large bolts into joists aren't.

Plus he had a fan in the middle of the room, and I wouldn't want panels falling on me if they came loose.
 
i'm planning on doing this in the nursery. I figure the cost will be ~$500 for all the fibers. I'm planning on building the light engine though, they want bookoo bucks for the metal halide units that don't last anywhere near as long and produce much more heat than LEDs. Its on the back burner right now, probably do it this winter.
