Has anyone played with this ? Their claim of 4 hours of bright light with 4 hours of recharging is interesting.

Very interesting...
If it indeed does "casts more light than a traditional krypton bulb", then it'd probably be an LS... Which would mean it makes no sense for it to have "36 hours of steady light"...

I'm assuming it's a regular 3mm or 5mm nichia with a reflector that "makes" it seem like it's throwing a beam like a small krypton bulb.

I believe Falcon has it right. In my catalog it sure looks (seems) like a 5mm.-for $20. (No Luxeon)

In my long experience with this company, they have some nice stuff, but sometimes are very lavish in their descriptions. 8>)

I did some Googling, and here's another place that offers this flashlight. But they don't offer any more information than the first place does.

Ad copy says: "more light output than a traditional krypton lamp. Huh??

-even my 1W HD Luxeon won't do that.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And as usual, we have no idea what the "bright light" is for four hours, or the "steady light" is for the next 36 hours. Can anybody say "gradually dimming light from the first moment?"

Ad copy like that is a peeve of mine. IT ends up giving LEDs a bad name since it sets the expectation so high, it can never be met.

Still... it is a cool looking little bugger that might accept an LS hack.

If you have a car or truck or boat (or other vehicle with a cigerette lighter receptacle) maybe it's a decent light. But if you don't have a vehicle, it would be a pain in the toliet muscle to get it charged up when necessary. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif
