Introducing the Cachelight (TM)....

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

Here's the basic Amherst Machine Products light that the Cachelight is based on:

As you can see, it has the same ring of supersized knurling that is on the rest of the body thus resulting in a harmonious unit. Personally, I like the complementary 24 flute endcap as in the top pic but this one works nicely too.

...and while you're at it, send one my way and I'll do a runtime plot on it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey Roy, no cuttin' in on my bizness, ya see, or I'll send Moose and Rocco over to give you'ze minimag collection a few "adjustments"... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif Fugeddaboudidt! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No, seriously, if I get one I can probably toss it your way for a runtime plot.

Charlie, I thought it was called the Cash light because it held cash! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

i already posted over on bladeforums but wow. if you could figure out a way that you could get a version with both the cache and still have it work without it. is it possible to just have the tailcap screw directly on to the front portion of the light? or is that how it works? i'd would like to see one with a handpicked luxeon, i think it would make the overall package more attractive if you knew that you would get the cache and non-cache version together and you could get a handpicked luxeon. well, keep up the good work and keep us posted.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys, very much appreciated! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I will be sure to update everyone as these progress. I can't wait to see the anodizing which should happen in a few weeks or so.

Thanks to Roy and Quick Beam for your generous offers, I'll be in touch!

My first thought is that it was the first LS cheap/small enough for use as a GeoCaching item! (sub $20). Oh well...I'll stick to my eBay Photon II knockoffs for caches.

One of these days I'll make a "flashlight" cache out of a Garrity 6V lantern - lots of room in those. I still need to visit the Carrboro cache, which must be done after dark and has clues you need a flashlight to find!

Hey Rad, thanks for posting the link to the geocaching site. Very intriguing stuff! I had heard about this concept years ago having to do with letterboxing in England, but this new version is way cooler. There are even some sites very close to my home so I'll be checking it out. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Rad,

Check this one out -> http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=23129

I go to Colorado about once a year, but didn't get a chance to do this one on my last trip. Now that I've found CPF, I'm gonna have to do it. Pay attention to the "bright flashlight" in the description. I believe I can bring a few under that category. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

P.S. I'm hoping to have a cache in Newton Grove soon (at my parents farm), and have a travel bug somewhere near Virginia heading to it. It's strange, I live in Kansas, made two virtual caches in Duplin County and have another going in Wayne County.

Any way to make the thing user adaptqable:
A. stubby single cell - no cache
B. full length - single cell - with cache
C. full length - 2 cell - no cache?
I guess this would be highly dependent upon the regulation...

Neat looking light - don't underestimate the value of the "cool factor"

Stainless, absolutely it will be adaptable! I think the plan is going to be offering the basic stubby light and then the cache assembly will be a separate add on product. This way we can also offer different sized cache compartments for different user needs. I don't think the two cell driven option is possible though at this time.
