Hi,
I tried to find information about the Maxbright 3W LED but without success. I saw it is made by lumileds, part of philips who also makes Luxeon I, III, Rebel ... but I wasn't able to find anythings about the performance of this particular LED (?) Is it a "luxeon 3W" like ? Is it worth to be replaced in an APEX with a Seoul SSC P4 ?
Thanks, Regards,

I'm pretty sure it's a Luxeon III and Maxbright is more PT's name for a high power LED in their lights. I believe that most people who have done it would say yes to the P4 to replace it though some complain the P4 is almost too bright for some tasks. I'm using my Apex for caving and trying to figure out how to make the main Luxeon into a pure flood light since I don't need as much throw and I hope to use some Fenix lights mounted to my helmet for that.

Thanks Avatar28,
I guess you're right : the only references I found after several hours of search for this Maxbright LED is the Princeton Tec APEX (?) It should be a Luxeon III and then worth to be replaced, so, I will mod it next week-end with a seoul P4 :)
For a flood light, may be an OP reflector would be better than the stock optic (I think I will make this mod too), I had the experience of a KL1 head from Surfire (old E2L) with the replacement of the TIR optic with a reflector which gave a nice flood light but still keeping some throw.
Thanks again ! Regards,

I will definitely be going with a reflector in place of the stock optic. I'm just wondering if I can find some sort of frosted glass or diffuser to go over it. I think somebody suggested clear scotch tape as a possibility, so I might try that or a piece of uncolored translucent cellophane stretched over the front of the glass.
