the McE2s is an aftermarket tailcap that provides two-level functionality to an E-series LED light (such as an L4 or E2L) There are several versions available, in different styles and w/ different resistors to allow for variations in the brightness of the low-setting. This is great aftermarket mod, but unfortunately it has been discontinued. You can however, find one every now and then on the B/S/T forums here. I found mine that way.
NOTE: The McE2s is not a clickie, but works the same as the L2, L1, A2 two-stage switches.
As far as the balance of the L2 vs. L1, that will just be a personal preference thing. Personally my vote goes to the L2. There isn't a flaslight I own, or have held, that feels better in my hand. That's just my preference, so take it w/ a grain of salt. Someone else could just as easily consider the same flashlight to be cumbersome to hold.
