Is EBAY a good place to buy a new SF L1?

The prices are not bad. Just worry about the issues mentioned here. Thanks!

Some of those might be Luxeon L1s, not the newer Cree ones.

The issues with the Cree L1s seem to be ironed out.

Over the past year and a half or so I have exclusively bought Surefires from OpticsHQ. Call them up and place an order and ask for the CPF discount. Great prices and great service. Over $500 of orders with them and not one complaint.

A lot of Ebayers have no clue what they are talking about. They may toss in the words new and improved or such, but when you read or ask about the lumens, you could find the old model.

Of course, a 65 Lumen Red L1 would be nice.

+1 for OpticsHQ. I bought 3 SF lights in the past 3 months from them, with shipping to Canada and no problem! Like carrot said, they have great discounts!

Years ago (before I knew better), I bought some Surefires on eBay. I did ok I guess, but looking back, would never do it again. There are some counterfeit Surefires out there (luckily I didnt get stuffed), and sometimes the ebay dealers have the old models (I bought an e2e and got the old version without the clickie - all my savings disappeared after I went out to buy a z57).

All my more recent purchases have been from OpticsHQ. Great service...can't go wrong!

I bought a few Surefires from Ebay since I was out of the country at the time and they would ship internationally. The prices were great and the place I got it from was very good and they seem to know a decent amount about the lights. They put pictures up of the exact package you should expect to receive so look for the yellow sticker that says "New Higher Output, Longer Runtime" on the Surefire L1 packaging. If you want I can PM you the link to their Ebay store.

The link you posted to the Surefire L1 at Opticshq is correct. Opticshq have only got the Surefire L1 Cree even though the specs on the website are for the Luxeon version. You can order from Optichq with confidence, they are great to deal with and if you tell them your CPF username they will ensure you get a good deal. http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=114584 has Opticshq information and stock list.
