Is it just my EV Arc AAA or is this true with all EV Turq. Arcs? The beam centering and quality are just horrible! If it wasn't for it's outstanding brightness, size, and craftsmanship, i would sell it....but won't.

Gransee...if you have any new EVs or ones that are better centered let me know...

check out these pics, you'll know what i mean.

See how far off center the LED is?

this shot too...

Look at the beam it produces too.

Why you takeing it personal? You don't know me, I don't know you.

It looks to be off cause it looks like a 3mm LED in a 5mm hole.

I think that LEDAgent is just posting an observation. He is curious on wether or not others have experienced this same thing. CPF members are some of the most discriminating flashlight users, and I don't think that his question is out of line at all. I DO think that your response was though.

Good work on staying on the high road, LEDagent. We`re with you. The refreshing civility of the CPF must never be lost.

Remember..."Those who the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad."

Best wishes to you.

in response to the original post, yeah all my white aaa arc's are all off center, which bothers me a lot and which is why my arc aaa isn't used as much as my LS, I guess this is an issue with all the arc aaa's, even the LE. I've even gone so far as to force it to center, with a screwdriver, with no avail, I only dented the LED.

At least the Arc LS is perfectly centered!

I have ten AAA's sitting right here in front of me, and they're all well withing specs for centering. I've had one or two that were pretty bad, but it certainly isn't the case for "all" of them, but any means. Out of 50 units, I've probably had two that were off enough to notice they weren't perfect. But NOTHING like in LEDagent's picture above.

Thanks for backin me up you guys...it REALLY REALLY means a lot. but that is all i want to say on that subject. I'm just gonna let it be. BTW, there are no bitter feelings towards 'marked' anymore....some people just have different ways of thinking i guess.

Just becasue yopu can't sense the expressions in someones face or voice doesn't mean you can say whatever you feel. ANYWAY.... who cares, its done and over. Lets continue just being sitrictly CPF members if that's how you want to treat people.
As for the majority of the CPF members i have had the pleasure of connecting with...i feel like there is a sense of 'family' on this forum. Thanks for bein' friendly.

Lightspeed, you are TOTALLY correct! And that is why i'm so descriminating...even with my SF lights!

SOOOoo...back on subject...

The picture of my EV Arc is the best that i can do to show its beam pattern. It is much worse in person, and when you really need to use it. I found putting and shaping a peice of scotch tape over it DRASTICALLY improves the usefullness of the light pattern, but it also decreases its intensity. Well it looks like i ended up with a defect? maybe not? Because i heard that the EV Arc has horrible rings anyway...I just never expected it to be like this.
If this problem complys under warrenty, will it still be honored if I bought if from a CPF member? It still is a GREAT light don't get me wrong. I was about to sell it to make room for my Arc LS...but just couldn't do it last minute.

I had the same dark rings on my EV & Darell suggested a little WriteRight over the LED & it did wonders for it & didn't seem to decrease the output. TX

Yup, WriteRight is the answer to ringy, dark-spotted colored LEDs. Be nice if the mfg just dimpled the ends of the things themselves. OR figured out how to make them as smooth as the whites.

Comments made by "Agent" are not taken by consumers like me as "complaining", but are useful becos they allow the potential user/buyer to steer clear of "ringy" or other "problem" lights.

my 5 cents

I don't want to go around telling people how to live.....But: If I have a complaint and someone says--Is it me or do you ***** and complane(sic)too much? They will probably get one of two responses.
1. It's you.
or
2. When I'm laying out my hard earned cash,I'll ***** and complane(sic)all I want.

Owww.You hurt my feelings.I took that personally?C'mon-some of you guys gotta butch up a little.

Good post, Troy Webber, but with all due respect, civility is the key....
not just "butching up".

Take care.

Well i DID edit my post 3 times in five mintues. I was really "BUTCH" on my first few posts. But i decided to take the "high road" like Carpe Diem said. Just use your imagination and guess what i said on first couple of posts.

I had to wash my fingers with soap....just joking.

ANyway...i'd like to keep this conversation on topic. So please, keep this on subject. 'Marked' if you are still out there, for what it's worth, you did kinda answer the question....so thank you in that respect. Lets get back to lights okay?

QUOTE by marked: "It looks to be off cause it looks like a 3mm LED in a 5mm hole."

Does the Arc AAA use a 3mm LED? I thought they were all 5mm? Anyway, i'll have to find some write-rights to try on this light. It is already amazing with scotch tape!

hotfoot...its the frosted type. If you take a sizeable piece, you can "cut" around it with a razor blade and use the edge of the lights as a guide. It turns out to be a very effective way to even out the beam AND protect the LED. It holds up well as an EDC mod and won't come off in your pants pocket.

When finals are over...i'll redo the tape mod and post some, up close and personal pictures.
