Gransee...if you have any new EVs or ones that are better centered let me know...

check out these pics, you'll know what i mean.

Yes, this does appear to be off center and yes we have ample stock to replace this for you. I am happy to replace this unit.

Based on the pictures, the problem appears to be a bad LED not being caught by QC. The LED is installed properly and does appear to be centered with the body. However, the internal reflector and die of the LED do not appear to be centered.

This is further substantiated by your beam image...

This off centered beam is caused by the LED manufacturer. However, we claim responsibility for the LED making its way into a flashlight and not being caught by our QC procedures. Therefore, we will replace it for you with my apologies.

In a traffic signal, this blue-green's off centered beam would go un-noticed. In a flashlight however, it can be irritating.

Please note that it is normal for the blue-green ("turquiose") part to have a blotchy corona and square hot spot surrounded by a ring. A true color, narrow-angle LED will probally never produce a beam as smooth as a white phosphored LED of the same angle. The phosphor of a "white LED" smooths the beam of the blue die to make a nice gradiant (well, usually).

Being in this business, I have looked at a few LEDs. No two are the same- even from the same batch.

Leave it to the expert to figure that one out. Man, I couldn't tell from the shot that the 5mm LED even filled the whole hole. Looked like it was wobbling around in there to me!

MARKED- that remark was too unapropriate to quote and if darrel sees this i wish he would moderate you. i assumed you were new until i saw youre member#- dont worry - you may have been here before me but you still will recieve no respect from me. you have proved your self to be ignorant and foolish and it would behoove you to lay off unless you have something worthwhile to say.

I'm here. And I see it. I don't like it much, but everybody has a right to their opinions. My hope is that Marked just woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. I see nothing out of line with LEDagent's concern. Not by a long shot.

Tell you what I'm gonna do. Since this is an Arc-related question, and a direct question to Peter, I'm going to move this down to the Arc forum. Peter can then moderate it as he sees fit.

** and I meant to add that you're probably in luck. I'll bet Peter has a bunch of EVs left. For the life of me I can't figure out why the hole is so big, and/or the LED is so small.

well, i just recieved the Arc AAA white today, and love it, but the centering on it is quite honestly the worst case i have ever seen. i noticed that it was off center after only about 5 after opening the box. if you lay it on a flat surface, aim it at the wall, and roll it, the beam rolls AROUND where it should be. also, if you lay it on a table and roll it, you can see that the beam is veering one direction, at one point in the 360 degree rotation, you can hardly see the beam on the table because it is pointing towards the ceiling. from all outward apperances, the led is perfectly centered, but when you shine it, it most definately is not. i held the unit perfectly straight into my eye, and most of the light hit my mouth. i think the bottom of the led is not at all where it should be:

(like the picture?)

Peter, could i possibly get a replacement?

it was supposed to be what i think is wrong with the light. the bottom of the led being crooked. on further thought tho, i think that the led itself might be off...
