Is the LS aluminum heat sink connected to the one of the leads?

Again, is one of the leads from the diode connected directly to the heatsink on the aluminum bottom from the factory?

Also, its the negative lead that gets hotter right?

Just trying to figure out how to cool a mod I am going to do. =) Thanks.
 
NO, the heat sink SHOULD be electrically isolated from the LED, if it is not, you got a messed up one.

Both "legs" will heat, but you are right- the negative is the one that gets hottest.
 
Thanks, I thought they might have connected then negative lead to the heat sink for better cooling.

I'm making maglite AA conversion and placing the heatsink on the grounded body and wanted to make sure there wasn't any (voltage)problems with that.
