I have a mag 2AAA light, and wonder if there is an led that can be dropped in without any regulation. I'm looking for a simple mod for this light to make it more useful. Anyone done this?? I have the Opalec for my 2AA. I don't expect something with extreme brightness, just something simple to do.

well, the old magma led can fit inside the MAG 2AAA body. YOu might ask over at BST to see if anyone has one for sale. Or, you might want to wait until the led conversion for solitaire come into the market and get one for your mag 2AAA. I dunno of any other led conversion for that.

Some time back Inretech cut down one of their AA pills to fit in a AAA MiniMag for me. They might do it again. Look in the Reviews Forum of the runtime plot on the AAA Minimag.

The TechAss magmaled will work, but the newer version requires quite a bit cutting to get it to fit. I think that there is a runtime plot for that one also.

If I recall the 1AAA adapter coming out won't run on 2AAA.

If you don't mind a color other than white, then you could put in say a Red-Orange Luxeon, some small resistance and good heatsinking would make a very bright light!

or find a high out put red orange 3/5mm led and stick it in there.

I filed down a red/orange itretech to fit into
a 2 AAA mag, it's an awesome little light, really bright!
it shouldn't be too hard to file a white one...it
just takes a long time! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif

Put me down for a me too. I know mag isn't popular around here, but I love my 2AAA. The light is somewhat bright (compared to the 1AAA) and the length is just right for my pocket. The 2AA is just too big and heavy for an edc for me.

I've used 5mm red or amber LED direct driven, just have to ream out the hole in the back of the reflector to make it fit.
It helps to pre-bend and trim the leads before the final fitting.

A red or amber 1W luxeon emitter mounted on a small heatsink should work, direct driven, but it will be a battery eater.

Filling down the adapter isn't the real problem, the problem is that the nice lens we use will not fit in the AAA case

Also the run time of the AAA will be considerably SHORTER
