Is there any problem using unprotected cells in Eagletac lights ?

Specs mention using protected cells so I'm guessing the light doesn't have any built in voltage sensing/shutdown. Which just leads back to the problems of using unprotected cells in general.

Which light are you specifically referring to? The T10L is not meant for unprotected 18650's. With its flat regulation, the battery would probably be damaged before you notice any dimming.
The T10LC2 should be OK with unprotected 18650's, since it is not as regulated. As long as you replace the batteries once it dims it should be OK.
However, they need to be able to physically fit in the light. Many unprotected cells (like ones from laptops) are flat topped, so they will not work because of the reverse polarity protectors. That is unless, of course, they have fallen off like mine did. You could try a magnetic spacer from Kaidomain, but i'm not sure if a magnet will have any harmful effect on any part of the battery or light.
