Is this a dog tick?

Looks like a dog tick. Deer ticks are really small (like head of a pin).

thought so but wasnt a 100% sure. are they the same as a brown tick or is that a different variety?

Looks like an Amblyomma species tick ( ?male) (eg: Amblyoma americana - the Lone Star tick
