Those DX modules will fit a Maglite...after some grinding, modifying of the switch and a little soldering. Also it won't be 2200 lumens. Probably closer to 1000, and it'll likely stop working after the first big drop. They're cheap for a reason.

Spend the extra cash and buy the Malkoff XM-L dropin. Bright, easy to install and you get a proper lifetime warranty.

I think it would be more proper to say that these drop-ins can be made to work in a Maglite rather than saying that they are designed for use in a Maglite. As the other poster said, using one of these will require lots of work to make them fit - they are not simple drop-ins specifically designed to drop into a Mag in the way that the Malkoff units are. With this said, if you want something that's simple to drop into a Mag, but isn't going to require that you make serious mods, go for the Malkoff. None of them are going to be as bright as a triple XM-L. But the XM-L2 is plenty bright for most purposes. And as the other poster said, it will be MUCH more reliable.
