Is this laser diode worth anything?

came out of a cheap alarm clock cd player.
I dont think its worth anything but want to make sure before I trash it.

It was really hard to photograph this thing because its so tiny. I know the pic is hard to make out but its the best I could do.

What devices usually have the good diodes?
I know DVD burners and laser printers have them. Do CD burners?
How about CD players?
Are burners the only ones with good diodes?

I CD LDs case the LD beam is invisible, so its pretty dangerous to play with this thing
