We're in the May ratings sweeps now, so the broadcasters will be rolling out their usual staples like -

Do you know what's on those sheets in your hotel room?
What's in your refrigerator right now that could send you to the hospital.
Strange lights in the sky... details at eleven.
The internet is a dangerous place! How to protect yourself.
What the car manufacturers don't want you to know.
Your flu shot might not have worked. Find out why at eleven.
Identity theft is on the rise. Look at what we found in a dumpster! Dirt at eleven.
Dangerous electricity is lurking in your sockets! How to protect yourself.
What your child is eating when you're not looking could make him sick!
Dangerous chemicals found in household cleaners!

...and other similar scare stories. I'm hiding under a bed until it's over. :tinfoil:

Stuff like this makes me glad I gave up on 'normal' broadcast media. The only TV we watch here anymore is either hockey games, or shows on the History or Discovery channels. I get most of my news and information from the radio and online. The local talk radio station does an entertainment report on the popular sitcoms, American Idol, and Dancing with the Stars once a week, I listen to that every once in a while to remind myself that we aren't really missing out on anything. No offense intended to those of you that follow and enjoy those shows, the wife and I just never could get into them. The closest we get is re-runs of Mama's Family and MASH.
