My initial impressions are OK, but I have a few concerns. First the UI is different than I expected.

-The light always starts in low 5mm leds. A another quick click changes to high 5mm leds
- Holding the button in changes modes. If you hold the button from off it goes from low 5mm to low maxbright led.

The low mode in the maxbright led gave out a good amount of light, I liked the tint and beam pattern, exactly what I was looking for. As I expected the high mode was certainly brighter but not by leaps and bounds. The low mode should be fine for me 90+ percent of the time.

I got the version with green LED's and am disappointed with the performance. The leds are set back in the light which I think is restricting the flood. Also there are very distinct rings in the beam pattern. I am wishing I would have just got white. The white leds on my PT quad look great which is alot more than I can say for the green ones on this light.

Personally, I would have liked to see them use colored filters instead of dedicated colored LEDS, I use and love my EOS Tactical for just that reason although the red is almost opaque but then again I have the older 24 lumen model. I'll be grabbing one of these and I will definitely be going for the white on white because it is just way more practical for my trail navigation but I will miss having the flexibility of the Tactical EOS but I believe that I will prefer a CR123A platform.

Hmmnnn, maybe the white on red because I disturb a lot of wildlife at night on the trail?????

Thanks for the impressions.

Any idea if it easy to open and what type the main led is? Considering getting one and putting a neutral white Cree XP-G in there...

I'm guessing the Pro version starts on low first in either mode you switch to? One of thegripes I have on the regular Remix is it starts on high first. I may check out the Remix pro as I like the 5MM lows and the throw of the Maxbright.

Could you check for PWM on low as well? Few things I hate more in a headlamp than slow PWM while skiing:sick2:

I actually sent my light into PT already. I told them I was a little disappointed with the performance of the green LEDs and they offered to exchange it for the all white model.

The light always starts on low 5mm leds.

Im not sure about the PWM, i didnt have the light that long to test it out. But it certainly was not bad, at least not bad enough to notice it while using it around the house.

As for modding the light... I considered trying to switch out the leds myself, but it looked like I would destroy the light trying to open it up. I doubt it would be easy, it think its glued together.

Thanks.

Sent PT a question about the use of li-ion, but I haven't heard back from them yet
