I really need a lightweight, small but powerful EDC pocket light. After reading through all the reviews and beam shots, I decided to go with my first PEAK LED light,an Eiger 10440 #8 wide cool. I only have one worry...I may like this light so much that i will be forced to buy more of them!

The wide is awesome- I got mine before Curt made up the trim rings to fit over the lexan.
You need to check out the #8 medium Cool if you can- the optic is totally different looking-
that's the problem- I like them both- but I am leaning heavily twords the Medium as my favorite right now-haven't tried a narrow or lower level yet. I am hoping an "Eigerized" AA with the Kiliminjaro may be an option in the future.

I have wide and medium. I prefer medium, it's flawlessly smooth whereas wide has a tad of emitter "shadow". And you're right, you WILL be forced to get another. Mark my words. :naughty:

Another vote for medium from me.

On my wide, I popped out the trim ring and used some very fine sandpaper to scuff the outside of the lens greatly smoothing the beam!! I assume there is a slight loss of output but it was worth it. I got the wide in a #1 power to use as a reading light in bed and find it to be excellent after the "smoothing" of the beam. Much to my surprise, the #1, wide, cool Eiger is quite a bit brighter than it needs to be for a good reading light if hand held about a foot from the page.
