Don't know why, just felt like posting it! :D

Found a tube of Autosol in my storeroom and immedietly I took it out and polished my Wee's reflector, and ultimately the whole tube.

anyway here are the results!

both pics were at iso80, f2.0, 1/1.3s shutter speed.

and heres a real world shot. i'm upstairs by my room window. target is roughly 10-15m away.

control shot on top, beam shot below.

both were taken at iso80, f2.0 at 1s shutter speed :D

oh, and my half-polished Wee. Too lz to polish the tailcap, plus i'm afraid i might damage the trits.

Thanks for the pictures!

I think i must do the same with my wee ti reflector... the dremel paste will be good????
The first beamshot is before and the second after of the polish?

I think the first shot is a control shot. The biggest difference when polishing the reflector is there is more of a defined hotspot, although it's still VERY floody.

Good job! :twothumbs

whoops, forgot to mention. yeap, the first shot was the control shot. haha.

btw, i think i need a dremel tool. theres some very minor artifacts within the hotspot itself. other than that, looking good!

heres a beamshot photo.

as you can see, theres some dark spots within the hotspot itself o_O

i think it'll be easier to see if you zoom out the pic a little with the ctrl+scrollwheel until you reach 20%.

and that rainbow-like ring surrounding the hotspot does not exist in real life. don't know how did the camera managed to capture that lol.

Use a dremel and the artefacts will probably become worse. I took a soft conical polishing bit with jewellers paste to my Wee and polished it up to a mirror finish. It now has a clearly defined hotspot with a flower like artefact right in the middle. Looks like four C's back to back. Makes no difference in use but if you are a white wall hunter, it may bother you. Unless you NEED a bit more throw on your Wee, you'd be better off leaving it as it comes.

+1

I polished my NS and got a better hotspot, then it had artifacts too. I did all the polishing by hand, no power tool. Then after a while dark spots (tarnish?) started showing up on the reflector. Re-polishing became necessary.

When I got my Ti, I decided not to fully polish it. I did go over it with some compuond on a rag just to improve reflectivity a little bit. No dark spots have shown up, I think that must only happen to the NS.

It's nice that you can "tune" it to the right amount of throw.

Be careful. If you polish your Wee Wee too many times, you'll go blind.

I tried polishing the reflector with Brasso and Mothers metal polish and it's still not mirror-finish. Would the Autosol perform better?

I'm not 100% positive, but I did it by hand with Simichrome and a papertowel. That did it, but you could use a dremel, a polishing bit, and your polish. If you have a dremel with multiple speeds, start off on the lowest level speed. That should definitely do it.

Good luck and let us know how well you like it! :twothumbs

I used a Brasso polishing paste, they sell for 70 cents in my country. Will take you few hours if you do it with hand.

But now my RAW is just as scratched as before :(
