So, I haven't indulged my flashaholic tendencies for a while. I've been using my Surefire L1 Digital Lumamax for so long. Right in Western Kentucky during the ice storm of 2009 (the place worst hit), I was reminded at how amazing Surefire lights are. A single 123A cell lasted me all ten days without power, although I didn't use it non-stop, obviously.

Fast forward to yesterday/today. I decided to buy a Surefire Backup, since I wanted something new. It immediately demoted my L1 to my vehicle center console. But the freakiest thing happened, my switch on the L1 started having issues. As if it were fate, I think the switch is going out, right after I replace my EDC. So I toss an e-mail to Surefire, asking how much it would cost to buy a new tail cap, since I didn't see the standard one on their website. They reply telling me to send my address, and they'll send it out to me, free. No hassle or questions asked. I had heard all the amazing stories, but this is the first time that I have experienced their customer service first-hand.

I was so please by the customer service and the Backup, I went and purchased a Surefire E2DL. I may end up buying one of the Surefire pens and one of their knives next weekend, too.

So, just when I was out of my obsession, I get pulled back in... I think it's time for me to celebrate.

I'd really like to hear more about your ice storm experience with your L1, if you would be so kind as to post more about that in my 'Using the SF L1' thread here, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm interested about your L1 tailcap, the 'momentary' button in my L1 tailcap became 'sticky' and wouldn't return to 'off' after the light hadn't been used for quite a few months. SF was happy to send me a replacement tailcap, but after a few days of use, the original 'momentary' button loosened up and now works perfectly. Was that the problem you had?

Well, the momentary works just fine, but when I tighten it completely, the high mode doesn't always come on. I have tried cleaning it all, oiling it, but no luck. If I can find a fix for it, though, I'll mail Surefire back the tail cap, without opening it, to where they can use it for another customer, if needed.

I'll post now into that L1 thread about how the L1 handled the ice storm.
