Kid\'s flashlight

All kids love flashlights, right? But the problem is kid's flashlights always have dead batts because the tikes forget to turn them off. I'd like to see some inexpensive LED flashlights that automatically shut off after a certain amount of time.

My daughter uses my eternaLight Ergo Marine because it automatically shuts off after 10 minutes (and because I have an EliteMAX to keep me happy). She's been on the original batts for months now. Problem is the eternaLights are too pricey for a kid's light. Dorcy, Garrity or Coleman need to come up with something for around $10 and sell them in huge numbers via Walmart, Target etc. This Coleman flashlight would've been a great candidate for the auto shutoff idea. So, how do we encourage them to do this? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Re: Kid\'s flashlight

The Playskool light is a step in the right direction, just too big, only runs 30 seconds per activation and would prefer it to be LED.

The Lightwave and Shakelight are both $35. Could go with one of the cheaper eternaLights for that price and they'd have auto-off, plus other fun modes.

The previously referenced Coleman is less than $10 and must have circuitry to run the "eight different patterns" the LEDs can produce. So a cheap LED flashlight with auto-off needn't be any more expensive than that one.

FWIW, isn't there a PAL light that comes on in the auto-off mode by default? Problem there is that it's a bit too small, so the kids would lose it.
