I bought a KL1 for my SF E1e & E2e series lights. I was wondering is it better on one or the other? I understand that on the E1e it will make the run time longer and give it 2 more lumens. On the E2e what are the benefits? Run time, brighter, more lumens? I have 2 E1e's and 3 E2e's so I could put one on each but do I really want to do that? Thanks!

Shelby claims that E1e + KL1 = priceless combo
Al has switched to E1e + KL1 from E2e.

I like the size of the E1(e) + KL1 combo for it's small size. But using the E2e is more efficient & gives you longer run times. You won't notice a brightness difference between the two.

It's all up to you.

I found that there is only one solution. That was to buy three KL1’s one for my wife’s E1e, one for the E2e, and one for the E2o. Now there are no arguments.

Okay, solved, bought one for the E1e & E2e. Now will this KL1 now replace for good you regular bulb? When do you use a regular bulb vs. an led like the KL1? Have SF's, but now I have to learn all of this stuff, and wait until the red, green and blue leds come out

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Isn't it the other way around? The E2, with the 2*CR123 configuration gives 2 extra lumens and runs bright for 4 hours. The E1 has a smaller package with the single CR123 battery, but only stays bright for 1.5hrs. That's the trade off. Size for runtime. You probably won't notice the 2 extra lumens.

No I beleive that you get 17 instead of 15 lumens with the KL1 on an E1e.

I switched my KL1 from my E1e onto my E2e and noticed (and I mean barely noticed) that it might have been slightly brighter on the E2e. The difference, at least to my eyes is negligible, and probably only thought it was brighter. Without a way to measure, I wouldn't swear on it. I switched it back onto the E1e because I like it better. I've run one battery thru it and got full brightness for 2 hours exactly. I haven't tested on the E2e because I doubt I'll really ever use the KL1 on it. I will say that it is the brightest, best centered, most appealingly tinted non-mod LED light I own. (Thanks Gandalf!)

I've measured the difference to be about 2% for the first hour, not something that's noticeable. After the first hour the light output from an E1/KL1 starts to drop.

The big advantage you get by using the KL1 on an E2(e) is runtime.

Heeeeeey BuuulllDog! (Beatles)

Leds can't replace my incand. cause they don't have the throw for spotting things way out. Thats why you got to have em both!

Listen to your feaarrrs!

The "full" brightness actually begins to drop off after about an hour with a single 123. With 2x123, you get a flatter ouput for quite a bit longer. The sweet spot for the KL1 is 6 volts, though it obviously works fine on the E1 with 3V.

I rarely need to see things WAY out there, and very rarely carry an incandescent these days.
