KL1 or KL3 using 4AA?

No experience, but it's a great idea. I love my KL1/E2e, and I'd love to have a headlamp conversion with a 4AA pack so you could use alkaline, rechargeables or Li AAs.

A 4AA tube sounds a bit long.

Does anyone have experience with running a Surefire KL1 or KL3 head using a 4AA body of some sort? For a number of reasons I've essentially standardized most of the toys, lights, etc., in our home on AAs, and I buy alkaline AAs in bulk (literally 100 at a time) to get them at dirt cheap prices. I'd love to run a KL1 or KL3, but it would be really neat to mate one with a 4AA body to get a bright, regulated 4AA light. Even if I had to run the lithium AAs in it, that to me would be preferable to buying batches of 123A cells...
