KL3 Mod \"Help\"

Well I have started on my KL3 Mod and right away I have run into a little hang-up . I have been following the threads on KL3 mods from days gone by and have removed the bezel ring and have gotten to the emitter . Now its time to get to the circuit board . How EXACTILY do you get to the board ? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
What I have read so far says to heat up the head and remove the POST /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif with needle nosed pliers after removing the emitter and to watch out for the wires twisting . Thats cool but what post?? Does that mean the back of the head where the spring meets the battery ? Or is there something
under the PCB to remove ? Thats what Im thinking because that matches the Pic´s that I have seen of this mod .
Thanks for any help !

Re: KL3 Mod \"Help\"

The post is the bottom of the KL3 head, where the contact springs reside.

It's best to first disconnect the leads running from inside the head (PC board) to the emitter before removing the post. This will prevent twisting of the leads as you remove the post and convertor board.

As wasabe64 said. The actual part you have to unscrew is a (Aluminum IIRC) retaining ring with four holes drilled into it. This resides in the the bottom of the space around the spring post. Once the retaining ring has been removed, the spring post assembly will drop out easily.
