This might be a really dumb question, but is the KL5 head on both the L5 and L6, or is there a separate KL6 head for the latter?

How many cells can the KL5 (and KL6 if such a thing exists) run on without frying it?

Thank for the info folks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

The heads are different. The L6 has a deeper reflector.

The KL5 is 2x123

The KL6 is 3x123 or 4x123

The KL4 is on the L4.
The KL5 is on the L5.
The KL6 is on the L6.
The KL7 is on the L7.

The KL5 is designed for TWO (2) SF123A batteries.
The KL6 is designed for THREE (3) SF123A batteries.

KL5 and KL6 are totally different animals with different drivers, reflector sizes and threads. The KL5 is a 5W, 2x123 boost circuit and the KL6 is a 5W, 3x123 buck circuit.

The KL5 can be placed on 3x123 but you are in DD and the resistance of the 123 cells will avoid immediate death but there is potential for damage.

The KL6 can be run on 4x123 with no problem but that is likely the limit.

EDIT: I swear there were no answers when I typed this response!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif
