KL5 - maximum voltage permitted?

OK, short and sweet, can I put a KL5 on a C3 or a vitalgear 3x123+E2C and run at 9V or will it die like a KL4 would.

No, you want to limit it to two cells. That is straight from Surefire Customer Service. I had hoped to use it on a C3 too.

I know SF told some people (including me) that KL5 would work with C3. BUT I believe oldgrandpajack (and a customer service representative who he talked to) is right.

I actually did a runtime test on KL5 with 3x123 and it survived. But it apparently ran in the direct drive and the LED was much overdriven.

If SF had permitted that in the first place then they would not see the sales of the L6 or KL6 right?
