Knife mark up

Hi all,

I'm bidding on a knife on ebay. Does anyone know the markup on a knife sold on the internet? I've seen the model I'm looking for at $55 (i.e not ebay) and it would be useful to know how much of that is profit.

Come to think of it, what's the markup on a Surefire flashlight, anyone know?

Depends on the knife. Give us a little more info like what brand, what model, and what kind of condition it is in and you can probably get an accurate survey of what the going rate for that knife is. I have noticed a lot of the people on here are into knives as much as lights.

CRKT is great stuff, definitely excellent knives for the money. I own two Crawford Kasper models and I bought a Point Guard for my brother for Christmas.

Anyways, the knife you are looking at, you should be able to get for between $45 and $50 brand new. They are going for about $35 used, depending on the condition.

Thanks for the prices. What profit margin do you think the dealer has on an item like this? Anyone?

I am by no means a dealer. So I'm not sure what kind of price break they get from the manufacturer. I guess it really all depends on how many knives they order. My guess is, they are probably getting that particular model for between $35 and $40 from CRKT.

I have found that in most models on the CRKT website, the retail price is quite a bit more than what most dealers actually sell them for.

It might be a safe assumption that most dealers make anywhere from $3 to $10 profit off of each knife. I know there are several dealers on here that sell tactical knives, but they probably won't say what their profit margin is.

As to the most I would pay for the knife you are looking at, I would probably pay $52 for it.
