Kodak Li-Ion KLIC 8000

My Kodak z612 uses that same battery. I only have the stock Kodak one that came with the camera. The only issue that I would think might come into play is if the cheaper battery fails, leaks, explodes, or in some way damages the camera, would you be covered? If you use the Kodak battery, I don't think there would be any problems in that regard.

I think I have that same generic battery. looking closely at my OEM Kodak battery it looks like two 14500's taped together and run in parallel, you can actually see the cells themselves at the tape margins. Looking at the generic one there seems to be a decently thick plastic case around the whole cells, not just the endcaps. I can't see inside it but they have got to be smaller cells, probably AAA size or something.

In use the generic runs for a pretty long time, but not as long as the authentic Kodak battery. If the Kodak is 1800Mah I'd guess the generic is maybe 1100 or so. For 1/5 the price and 2/3 the performance it's not bad.

I'm thinking of trying to make two dummy 18650s with a recessed cradle of some sort in them as a charging adapter so I can charge these with my PILA IBC.
