I was playing with, uh, that is I mean I was testing my Streamlight Luxeon Tasklight earlier, and it looked to me that the tailcap was roughly the same size and thread as a Minimag tailcap. I dug out a Kroll tailcap switch, and sure enough it screwed right in! It seems to work fine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I would post a pic, but I can't find a decent disc to fed the Mavica at this moment.

makes sense since the kroll was developed by streamlight /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

One would have to ask...but why? Wait, maybe I figured it out. Will the Kroll fit the Twin Tasklight? Maybe that would get around the annoying switching (having to cycle through bright and dark to get your desired output level). Set the light to the output you expect to use, then turn it on when needed with the Kroll.

Wouldn't the Kroll work in the same manner as the stock switch (aside from it being a tailswitch)? My 1L cycle goes LED mode for 1st click, "off" for 2nd click, then incan for 3rd click and "off" again for the 4th click so it would already allow you to set whichever mode you choose to come on at "1st click." My 2D does not have the "off" mode between LED/incan, but the Kroll wouldn't fit on those anyway.

In any case, I think having the Kroll as an option is cool.

Couldn't wait to get home and put the kroll switch on my SL Luxeon. Works great. Now I can use it momentarily, instead of just on/off. Thanks for the tip Revolvergeek. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

The Lithium TT lights are too big for the kroll straight in. However they could be bored and tapped out to accept the switch. Then you can preselect the mode with the body switch and cycle on/off with the tail switch. Mildly annoying when I have to cycle back to led or vice-versa.

Actually in the SL patents (yes, they hold the int'l patents for the cycling Nuwai types, and these TT's are indeed mf'd offshore), there are TWO types of cyclic switches -- those that remain at the last cycle step, and those that return to the starting sequence when power is cut. Woooord Up!

Here is my and Don's idea to fit a Kroll in a multi-switched flashlight e.g. the Xenergy...

Having done this, let me mention:

The switch is a mechanical one - so if you have a kroll, you select the light level with the stock switch and then can use the Kroll for on-off in that level. This way you can switch levels of light while it's off, or keep it on one level without cycling the stock switch through all the levels when you want to use it.

Second, The tailcap for the Tasklight luxeon fits the TT 3AA, so a Kroll should fit directly in the TT 3AA as well.

Third, the tailcap of the Xenergy and the TT 1L and 2L are essentially identical, so the Xenergy Kroll tailcap mod can definately be done to the TT 1L, 2L by someone with the time and skills.

Fourth, setting both switches in the OFF position serves very nicely as a storage/packing lock-out.

Revolvergeek - good find with the kroll direct fit mod!

Is there any chance someone would set up to mod a few of these? I have three of these lights and would very much like to have this mod done, but don't have the skill or tools.

I am getting some of these lights (1L, 2L and 3C), and I'll see what they look like. If I think I can do it easily/cheaply, I'll offer the mod. I won't have the lights until the end of next week, so I can't offer an opinion until then.

That would be great if it works out. From Don's discription, it is not that hard, it just takes a will outfitted machine shop. I will watch for your post. Thanks
